This website shows all of the different important information you need to check on your company’s compliance.

Your operating status is one of the key things to pay attention to. Here’s what each one means:

OUT-OF-SERVICE

This status means a motor carrier is temporarily prohibited from operating due to safety violations or regulatory non-compliance, often due to failed inspections or audits.

Inactive USDOT Number per 49 CFR 390.19 (b)(4)

This status occurs when a carrier fails to update their MCS-150 form by the deadline, resulting in the deactivation of their USDOT number and a civil penalty. Until the form is filed, the carrier cannot legally operate, which may indicate poor attention to detail.

AUTHORIZED FOR (Passenger, Property, HHG)

This status means the carrier has an active MC Number and meets the requirements to transport specific goods or passengers in interstate commerce. A carrier with this status is legally authorized and has passed necessary checks.

NOT AUTHORIZED

This status indicates the carrier’s MC number is inactive or pending approval, meaning they are not authorized for interstate transport. Being a NOT AUTHORIZED carrier and having interstate jobs can lead to regulatory and legal issues.
